What Is Web Hosting?
Web Hosting is the service that allows organizations and individuals to have their own web site on the Internet using their own domain, eg. company.com. Web hosting is like paying rent for an apartment or rent for office space.

Why Do I Need Web Hosting?
In order to have a web site you must have a web hosting account to store your web pages on. Hosting is like renting office space. A web site without a web host is like having office furniture but no place to put the furniture or plug in your telephone. To have an office you need to rent office space. To have a web site you must rent web space to store your web pages.

Difference Between Linux Server & Windows Server Hosting?
The main differences between Linux and Windows hosting are the prices and functionality. Linux hosting is a more cost efficient solution than Windows hosting due to their licenses. Linux is best for PHP, Perl, CGI, JSP and Servlet scripting while Windows hosting required when it comes to ASP, ASP.NET, CFM and Access Database.

Note: You do not need to be running on a Linux based computer to developer or use your Linux server hosted website. All web surfers will be able to view your site regardless of which operating system they are using.
