vMCPD Turns One!

1st April 2006 marks the first anniversary of the Law Society’s vMCPD Scheme – a 2-year pilot project to deliver more varied and value-added Training & Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes to members and to gather data for the future implementation of a mandatory CPD scheme for the profession. During vMCPD, members are encouraged to attend CPD Programmes voluntarily and no mandatory standards or reporting requirements are imposed. Find out more about vMCPD.

Did you know that:

1. You chalk up CPD Hours when you attend events organised by any of the 20 external training providers (including SAL, IP Academy, SIAC, SMC, LexisNexis, Key Media) who have applied for recognition under the Society’s vMCPD Scheme?
2. In the year since its launch, our dedicated CPD Portal has seen almost 22,000 page loads?
3. Our Training Management System has been used to manage more than 150 events by the Law Society and its approved training providers?
4. There have been more than 3,370 registrations for CPD programmes of the Law Society and its approved training providers in the past year?
5. You can check your training records online at www.lawsociety.org.sg/CPD under ‘Online Services’?

This 1st year of the pilot has been a successful one, thanks to our members, CPD delegates, collaboration partners and training providers!

To say a big “thank you!” for your support, the CPD Committee will soon offer attractive discounts of 10-20% for all on-line registrations and payments for Law Society CPD programmes, so you have even more reason to make a commitment to continuing excellence. Watch out for more details to be announced shortly!

Need an Urgent Update, Quick Overview or Access to the Latest Research?

With a variety of over 150 events featuring experienced practitioners and other experts conducted within the past 3 years, the CPD Committee has collated a wealth of reference materials from these seminars, workshops and conferences. While simply purchasing these materials is not a substitute for attending our on-site CPD programmes, the Law Society is pleased to announce that materials from its past Training & Continuing Professional Development events are now available for purchase.
